Durbar is a longstanding ceremonial tradition in Northern Nigeria, featuring royal processions, horsemen, traditional dress, music, and cultural heritage. Celebrations vary by city and occasion.
Can I join as a solo traveler?
Yes. Solo travelers are welcome. Room-sharing arrangements and any private-room supplements should be confirmed during booking.

Is the $400 deposit refundable?
No. The $400 deposit is nonrefundable if you cancel, regardless of how far in advance you cancel. Refunds apply only to payments made beyond the deposit.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
The $400 deposit is always nonrefundable if you cancel. For additional payments, refunds are based on the date we receive your written cancellation: more than 90 days before departure, 100%; 61–90 days, 75%; 31–60 days, 50%; and 30 days or fewer, no refund.
No separate flight, hotel, or supplier-cost deductions apply. Applicable legal rights remain unaffected.
What happens if my Nigerian visa is denied?
Visa decisions are made by Nigerian authorities. The Bearded Expeditions cannot guarantee approval or denial. If your visa is denied and you cancel, your $400 deposit and any additional payments are fully refunded.
Do I need a visa for Nigeria?
Typically, yes. Requirements depend on your nationality and passport. Travelers are responsible for obtaining necessary entry documents. We will provide general guidance, but final decisions rest with Nigerian immigration authorities.
Is Northern Nigeria safe to visit?
Northern Nigeria has serious security risks. No trip can be guaranteed safe. Plans may change or be canceled based on conditions and local guidance. We work closely with trusted, local guides and we are constantly monitoring the regional conditions.
Which airport should I use?
The trip is planned to begin and end in Kano, using Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (KAN). Confirm flight windows before booking.
Are international flights included?
No. International flights are not included.
What should I wear?
Lightweight, modest, comfortable clothing and good walking shoes are recommended.
Can I bring a camera?
Yes, subject to local rules. Please avoid filming government, military buildings and check points. We will provide more guidance on this before departure.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes. Insurance should cover relevant medical expenses, emergency evacuation, and travel disruptions in Nigeria.
What if Durbar is canceled?
Festival programming is outside our control. Alternatives may be arranged where possible. Refunds will be issued.
Is there a payment plan?
Available deposit amounts, installments, and deadlines are displayed at checkout. The $400 deposit is nonrefundable if you cancel.
When should I book flights?
